In 2005, I discovered the StudioTrax website, which nurtured me into the world of digital recording. Through the next few years, I had the great joy of simultaneously learning recording techniques while sharing the experience of making music with my oldest son, Bryan. It is his killer vocals that are featured on 8 of the 12 songs on this album.
Here is our recording process for each song that Bryan sang:
I would labor for several weeks to record every instrument and bkg. vocal track for the song.
Then Bryan would come in for less than an hour to record his lead vocal, often in only 2 or 3 takes.
Then it was another several weeks for me to do the track editing, mixing and mastering.
It didn't take Bryan long to figure out that the lead singer has it made.
At that time, my younger son, Brett, was beginning his journey to becoming an excellent guitar player, and it is my ultimate goal to capture one of his roaring solos in a future recording.
